DESIGN. TRAVEL. EXPAT LIFE IN KENYA.

by An Bos

Hi! I’m Andra, Romanian. Wil, my husband, is Dutch. In 2008 we started our journey together in Rotterdam. In 2017 we moved to Kenya. In 2022 we designed and built a a sustainable home combining European industrial style with culturally rich African items. Our goal was to support and believe in the amazing potential of the local market and counter the import trend.

Within it we embrace and breathe new life into items touched by the hands of time, objects with soulful stories of old while adding the sharp edges of the new. A celebration of raw, earthy tones with vibrant colours on a canvas of concrete. Join us here for more on our African journey with interiors, culture, travels, sustainability and more.

The Idea.

It all begins with an idea. Come read the journey of how and why we ended up building our home after renting for a number of years.

Travel as an expat. Vacation destinations. Travel around the world.

The World.

Travel has been a part of our lives from our love story of a Dutch and a Romanian coming together, to our expat life in a third culture leading to yearly family visits and encounters in home countries or beyond.

Expat Thoughts.

Discovering Kenya one experience at a time.

“The room I chose to eat and sleep in is like no other. A huge square hole has been cut out of the white ceiling. At the touch of a button the entire roof slides back to reveal the sky… Real snow falling inside a real room. Outside in. Inside Out. I know I should close the roof, but I cannot move for thinking how this is not supposed to happen. How we perceive and believe things have to be a certain way, until we realize that isn’t true. How anything is possible with the right conditions. And it makes me wonder: how else are we limiting ourselves? What else could be possible if we stopped telling ourselves the opposite.” Beth Kempton - Wabi Sabi
